Bad news for the Michigan State Basketball Team!
"Nix arrested for drug possession, suspended indefinitely
MSU center Derrick Nix was arrested at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday in East Lansing on charges of operating a vehicle with the presence of drugs and marijuana possession, according to East Lansing 54-B District Court records.
Nix was pulled over at the intersection of Lake Lansing and Abbot roads. He also was issued a warning for a red light violation.
In his junior season, Nix averaged 8.1 points and 3.8 rebounds and is a potential candidate to be team captain in the upcoming season.
The MSU athletics department released a statement from head coach Tom Izzo in regards to the incident.
“Based on the information we have received, Derrick Nix has been suspended indefinitely from our basketball team, and his future with our program is uncertain,” Izzo said in the statement. “He made an irresponsible decision that has put his future with our program in serious jeopardy.”
A court official confirmed that Nix has been released from custody but did not have details as to the amount of bond posted.
According the a copy of the ticket issued to Nix obtained by The State News, his bond was set at $200 at the time of his arrest."
